Riyadh is the capital city of Saudi Arabia, situated on the eastern bank of Wadi Hanifa. The tribe of Banu Hanifa founded Hajr and served as the capital of the province of Al-Yamamah. Walls enclosed Riyadh and there was a town square and a market in its Centre. In 1940s – 1950s, when oil began to produce commercially, the rate of urbanization readily increases and the city transformed into newer houses and buildings from traditional houses and buildings. King Saud made his objective to modernize Riyadh in 1950.
With the passage of time, Riyadh becomes the bustling and busy city. King Saud revolutionized Riyadh. He issues a grid plan and the population of Riyadh increases as per the grid. The biggest airport in the world is the King Khalid International Airport of Riyadh. If you are coming for Umrah by Umrah packages from UK don’t forget to see this airport. In past, govt. banned theaters and public exhibition of films for many decades but Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman allowed the public exhibition of films in his time.

Mohammed bin Salman has given the permissions to ladies for the driving purposes and to watch movies in cinemas. He critically thought and made some of the decisions which totally changed the culture.
Before Mohammad bin Salman, things prohibited for women:

  • Driving in all over Saudi Arabia
  • Attending the sports events
  • Participating in the public entertainment programs
  • Participates in sports
  • Holding any financial identification
  • Dress code enforcement

Let’s together explore the city Riyadh and its places with modern and traditional touch.

The boulevard city

The boulevard has different countries set up inside it. You will see many different cultures here. They apparently have all the sign boards inside each country as per their language like in their native language.

Let’s start from the china morocco setup, the set is really beautiful and feels like you are in China for real. The market is amazing, offering you everything, from Electronics to press on nails, to toys and almost all Chinese items you can think of. There are displays of multiple cultures from countries like Jordan, Turkey, and Lebanon etc. what caught your eye here is the beautiful traditional wear with heavy defined work on it along with some stunning art pieces, perfect for your dining spaces. If you go inside turkey set, don’t forget to eat their famous ravioli pasta.

If you book Ramadan Umrah packages and visit boulevard in Ramadan, you will get complimentary iftar. Islam is a blessing and its holy months are celebration in Muslim countries.

Other than the country displays, there is a lot more to explore like the Boulevard Forest planet cinema and dolphin area. But all this comes with additional cost, of course. And they accept only cards which you can top up from their counters. So plan this area and manage your time accordingly.

Floating Market is the most popular place over here, so go and visit inside. This Market is totally a Pinterest inspired space and a must visit for all my foodie friends. There are multiple cultural shows happening throughout the day at different Pavilion so do check out their timings on the website and plan accordingly.

Heet Cave

It is 30 kilometers away from Riyadh and a natural swimming pool. The sun set there in a small pool, I don’t know whether the rain water collects there or comes out of the ground. The lake is majestic and you can hear your echo of the sound. Going down in the lake is no less than a danger but the scene of the river that you get to see after taking it down, you feel as if you are present inside a grey area. The sky is visible from the hole but oxygen level decreases as you go inside. There is a danger of rock falling from the above side, so be careful.

Imam Turki bin Abdullah Grand Mosque

Imam Turki bin Abdullah Grand Mosque is also famous as Bari Masjid in natives. And this large beautiful mosque is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mosque built between 124 to 1245 Hijr calendar and there is one of its entrances, after this there is another entrance which is exactly opposite to where the Masmak Fort is. There is Masmak Fort from that side as well.

Its name is Imam Turki bin Abdullah on the name of founder, after that his son Imam Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud did a lot of good developments in this mosque. He built an upper corridor and there is Qasr al-Hukam Palace, in the middle of the palace, you will see beautiful lamp lights of golden color, he also gave a beautiful antique style to this palace and till now it is very well maintained. After that King Abdul Aziz Al Saud also built this mosque. He made a lot of good changes in the mosque and did a lot of development. He built two bridges which were connecting Al Hukam Palace and the mosque. Book any Ramadan Umrah packages and visit this beautiful mosque in the blessed month of Ramadan.
